On Sunday morning we had to get up early as well because we would be travelling to the YS Falls and the beach in the North of Jamaica. We gathered at the Projects Abroad Office, got into the busses and made a stop at Mega Mart to buy some snacks and drinks for on the road. On our way to the falls I had a really good conversation with Joy, Kayla, Zayn, Vanessa and Maddie from the Care group. It was not really about something specific, but it was nice to hear everyone's stories and experiences and their different perspectives about certain topics. It was cool to see that even though three of them came from Amerika, one of them came from Italy and Joy and I came from the Netherlands, there were a lot of things that we had in common or had similar experiences with, even though they were slightly different. We drove for about two hours until we reached Bamboo Avenue, which is a long road with bamboo trees along both sides making it a bamboo tunnel. It's so beautiful and it had something mysterious to it, I had never seen something like that before and I truly loved it. We soon reached the YS Falls where we went through the souvenir shop into busses that took us to the falls. The small trip to the falls was stunning, we had view on the mountains, drove through the woods and drove along some clear blue mountain water streams. We got out of the busses at another souvenir shop and placed our bags in a hut at the swimming pool. By then it was finally time to go to the falls themselves and it was just... WOW. This must have been one of the most beautiful places on planet earth. It was such a green place, and the water was so clear and refreshing. The falls were really big and so beautiful to look at! Everyone swam in the water of the falls and we also swung the rope. It was really cool to swing the rope and then let go to fall into the water, it made me feel like I was Tarzan himself (or Jane hahaha). If you ever decide to go to the YS Falls, there is much more to do over there than just swimming in the falls and swinging with the rope. There are also zip lines you can get onto, or you could take a swim in the natural springs or do some river tubing. You definitely won't get bored! After lunch we headed back to the busses to go the beach. Unfortunately, at that time it also started raining, so we were not completely sure if we would still be able to swim in the sea. However, when we reached the beach after a couple of minutes driving, it had stopped raining and we could still enjoy ourselves at the beach. Personally I did not feel like going into the water, so I just relaxed a bit on the beach, made some fun, took some pictures and I even got to see a little sand crab. We headed back to the office around 5 o' clock and made a stop at a fish place along the road. Some volunteers bought some fish and the staff members bought some fish soup for on the road. I got home around 8 PM and ate some chicken and rice (something I ate a lot in Jamaica haha). Unika's friend Ricardo (who was there on my first Sunday in Jamaica too) was over at that time and we watched some television together. Around half past 10, I took a shower and went to bed. On Monday we would get back to the hard work, so I definitely had to get some rest.
