On Monday morning we got back to work. We started off with taking the molds down as the cement was dry and we placed them on new spots. It may not sound as much (compared to what was already build), but I was really proud of us for constructing the upper parts of the walls. We then took our shovels again to mix some more cement. Luckily for us, on this day there were a lot of local builders that helped us out a bit. These men (of course) knew what they had to do and they were really good at it. In only a few minutes we had mixed the cement, filled the buckets and carried them up the building to put them in the newly placed molds. And so you see, many hands make light work! Or “every mickle mek a muckle” (Small things when combined one by one can have a big effect) as they say in Jamaica. At lunch time, we ate some delicious rice with sausage prepared by Shelly and drank some refreshing juice. After lunch, we soon got back to work and mixed some more cement, filled the buckets and lifted them up the toilets. At some point there was one of the local builders who started singing "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley and everyone joined him, which made the hard work a little bit more fun. After we filled the molds, we had to wait until the next molds were installed. The lads (as the British volunteers say) from the building project saw this waiting time as a perfect opportunity to bury Charlie in the sand. The poor guy.... After Charlie washed himself, we were all told to get changed, but then the local builders asked us to stay for a few more minutes to mix some more cement so that we could fill the last mold as it was now installed. So we mixed some more cement and filled the mold with it. The upper part of the walls were now almost finished! We got changed and drove back to the Projects Abroad office where, meanwhile, a new group of volunteers had arrived; the Medicine group. On the program for that day was some supervised free time so we went to the ATM, because a few people were almost out of their money and we made our way to Juici Patties where I tried my first Beef Pattie, which was really good! Some guys wanted to go to KFC, so after everyone ate their Patties we went to the KFC. We then went back to the office to get into our taxi and drive home to our host family. I was still full of the Patty so I did not have dinner that evening. After Unika, the children and Robyn finished their dinner, we sat down in the living room, where we talked for a while and watched some television before I went to bed.
